IIII Walls is comic book inspired by the song ‘Four Walls (The Ballad of Perry Smith)’ by Bastille (2016). The song itself took inspiration from Truman Capote’s famous novel, ‘In Cold Blood’, which details the Clutter family murder in 1959 and the perpetrators.

My comic follows one of the two killers as he awaits his execution in prison. The stark colour palette match with the rigid and dramatic style emphasises the prisoner’s deterioration and decay as he reflects on his crimes.

The full comic is sixteen pages. Each page has been hand-drawn and edited digitally.

A single spread, which combines the song’s guitar chords, with the reaching and grotesque hands of the prisoner, was also printed as its own artwork.
